Our team is growing, training and preparing to deliver a great camp experience for kids in Halton Hills this summer!

Even though there is snow on the ground these days, summer camp staff are anxiously gearing up for another exciting season. For many families, summer camp fills the need for childcare – a safe place to go when school is out. But more than that, we see summer camp as a time to set the building blocks for a lifetime of recreation, play and fun. Summer camp is a wonderful place for children to play, master skills, and explore new experiences. Children disconnect from technology and re-connect with those around them!

Play is the work of children, and research shows that introducing children to quality recreation programs at a young age will set them up for a future involvement in recreation. Data from 2022 ParticipACTION Report Card, indicated that 28% of children and youth don’t get 60-minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity each day. Summer camp environments will ensure children get active and engage in lots of physical activity each day!

The Town of Halton Hills is a HIGH FIVE® accredited organization. HIGH FIVE® is Canada’s quality standard for recreation and leisure programs, focusing on child-centered programming. Based on extensive research on the characteristics of quality programs, all HIGH FIVE® programs incorporate:

  1. A Caring Leader
  2. The opportunity to make Friends
  3. The opportunity to Play
  4. The opportunity to Master Skills
  5. The opportunity to Participate

These five principles are at the core all our programs, and staff strive to build meaningful connections with participants each day.

In addition to HIGH FIVE® certification, all staff are required to have Standard First Aid & CPR certification, a valid criminal record check, and attend over 35 hours of staff training. The Town of Halton Hills is currently recruiting enthusiastic individuals to join our staff team! We are looking to hire Program Instructors, Inclusion Facilitators, Professional Instructors for Inclusion Support, Assistant Coordinators. The Town of Halton Hills offers a wide variety of summer camps for children between the ages of 4 and 12 years old. Programs are divided by age; tyke programs for 4-6 year olds and general programs for 7-12 year olds. Some of our most popular camps are Tyke Hullabaloo and Adventure Splash ‘n Fun, which include a variety of active games, arts & crafts, science experiments, outdoor play and much more! We also offer various specialty programs such as Studio Art, Chefs in Training, Musical Theatre, Dance & Cheerleading, Ball Hockey, and Theatre camp. While these programs still incorporate the general camp activities, they also, focus more specifically on mastery and skill development. Our tyke programs enjoy time at local splash pads, and all other programs swim three times per week.
