There's a new face at the helm of the Georgetown Hospital.

Halton Healthcare has appointed Monica Bettazzoni as the facility's chief operating officer and director for the family practice program.

Bettazzoni has been with Halton Healthcare for 10 years as the program director for mental health, central intake and self-management programs.

She led and expanded the comprehensive inpatient and outpatient mental health services in Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville with a focus on ensuring patient access to appropriate levels of support, care and programming.

She was also a member of the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre during the pandemic.

“I am looking forward to my new role at Georgetown Hospital and to engaging with the residents and businesses in the Halton Hills area,” said Bettazzoni. “Part of my mandate will be to support the planning that is underway to replace the current hospital and ensure we have a facility that will meet the healthcare needs of the growing communities of Halton Hills."

Bettazzoni is replacing Cindy McDonell, who held the role of COO since the transfer of Georgetown Hospital to Halton Healthcare from William Osler Health Centre in 2006.
