It's that time of year again - the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is chugging its way into Halton to kick off the holiday season.
The train is scheduled to arrive in Milton today (Nov. 22) dressed in thousands of Christmas lights and opening the doors to live music performances. It'll stop at the Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre, 5234 Kelso Rd., at 4:45 p.m.
This year will see Canadian musicians Seaforth, from Huron County, and Kiesza, from Calgary, rock the main stage with special guests Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Winterfest snowman.
The CPKC Holiday Train annual food bank fundraising program has been going strong for 25 years and has raised more than $14.5 million and 4.3 million pounds of food since 1999.
CPKC sends two of its trains around Canada and the United States to perform nearly 168 live shows in communities and raise money and food donations for the holiday season.
“The Holiday Train program is close to the hearts of our CPKC family. Our railroaders take great joy in joining communities across our network as they come together in the giving spirit of the holidays," said CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel on the company's website.
“We are proud to support local food banks as we fight food insecurity by collecting food and raising money and awareness."
