Georgetown man charged in robbery of local convenience store

Halton Regional Police have charged a local resident in connection with a robbery at a Georgetown convenience store.

Around 9:50 a.m. yesterday (July 16), police say a suspect allegedly armed with a knife entered the Circle K on Mountainview Road South and demanded cash from the employee.

“The suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival with an undisclosed amount of cash,” said Halton Regional Police media relations officer Const. Steve Elms.

Police say they located and arrested the suspect around 11:30 a.m. in the area of Guelph Street and Sinclair Avenue.

Ryan Lynch, 24, of Georgetown has been charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held for bail.
