Halton police recover 32 stolen vehicles through Project Eleanor

Investigators also located and seized $11,000 in Canadian currency, stolen property and technology used in reprogramming auto theft

Project Eleanor, a joint project between the Halton Regional Police Service and Canada Border Services Agency, has recovered 32 stolen vehicles.

The project started in January 2022, and focused on the reprogramming theft and trafficking of high-end SUV’s and pickup trucks in Halton and throughout the GTA.

Five people were arrested between Jan. 8 and April 23.

Investigators also recovered $11,000 in Canadian currency, stolen property and technology involved in the reprogramming of stolen vehicles.

Alexandre Doyon (22) of Toronto, Konstantinos Sotiropoulos (22) of Quebec, and Gustavo Salazar (23) of Toronto are all facing charges of:

  • Theft Over $5,000 (of motor vehicle)
  • Possession of Automobile Master Key
  • Possession of Break In Instruments

Doyon was rearrested in April and faces additional charges of:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fraud Under $5,000

[Charge withdrawn] of Toronto is charged with:

  • Fraud Under $5,000

Police are still looking for other individuals connected to the investigation.
