UPDATE: Louie the dog has been located, say Halton police

The tea-cup poodle was inside the vehicle stolen at Dundas and Trafalgar, say police

The Halton Regional Police Service is pleased to advise that Louie has been located in good health!  We'd like to thank the public for helping in this investigation and aiding in reuniting Louie with his rightful owner.

Original information:

The Halton Regional Police Service - 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating a carjacking that happened in Oakville overnight in which a dog was also taken.

At approximately 1 a.m., the driver of a 2021 Mercedes was stopped at the intersection of Dundas Street West and Trafalgar Road when a suspect vehicle pulled in behind and made contact with the victim's vehicle.

A man got out of the car and distracted the victim while exchanging information. During that time, two suspects wearing balaclavas got into the victim's car and showed a gun and threatened the victim when approached.

The victim's dog was inside the vehicle at the time and has not been recovered. Police say it's possible that the dog was dropped off in the area of Oakmead Boulevard and Wembley Road in Oakville after the incident.

The dog is a tea-cup poodle wearing a blue halter and responds to the name Louie.

Anyone who has seen the dog is asked to contact police.

The stolen vehicle was recovered abandoned in Toronto at approximately 2 a.m.

The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as :

  • Male, brown skin
  • Late teens/early 20s
  • Approximately 5’10” tall
  • Clean shaven
  • Wearing a two-tone grey sweat suit

There are no descriptions of the other suspects or suspect vehicle.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
